Known issues
Superfin is in beta. It’s free to try, and it’s good enough to be genuinely useful — but you will run into rough edges, and some numbers won’t be perfect yet. We’d rather tell you exactly what to watch for than pretend everything is polished. Here’s the honest list.
Transaction categories aren’t always right
Categories are assigned automatically and won’t be perfect. You can recategorize any transaction, and the app learns from your accounts. We recently upgraded the categorization engine, so accuracy keeps improving.
Transfers between your own accounts may show as activity
Moving money between your own accounts (or paying a credit card) can occasionally look like spending until it’s detected as a transfer. You can mark any transaction as a transfer and it’ll be excluded from spending totals.
Subscription & recurring detection is still learning
We may miss a recurring charge or flag a one-off as recurring. Cash-flow and subscription views are a strong estimate, not an audit — always sanity-check before acting.
Bank sync can lag or need a re-link
Bank connections run through Plaid. Some banks sync slower than others, and occasionally a connection needs to be re-linked. If numbers look stale, re-syncing usually fixes it.
Web is the most complete experience
The mobile app is newer and catching up. For the fullest feature set today, use Superfin on the web.
What beta does not mean
Beta applies to features and polish — never to your safety. Superfin is read-only and can’t move money, your bank login is handled by Plaid and never stored by us, traffic is encrypted, and payments run through Stripe. Bugs here are things like a mislabeled category — not anything that touches your accounts. Read how we protect your data →
